Pivots and Cornnuts.....

When Ron got home tonight.....he and I went to watch our Pivot by Duncan so we could reverse it back headed for the road......anyway......we grabbed Cheerio and headed to the pivot in Ron's pickup. FINALLY a nice evening to be outside!!! It wasn't humid or blazing hot. What seemed like an eternity and half a bag of Cornnuts later.....we finally were able to reverse the pivot, but unfortunately it was still on load control so Ron had to return later after dark to turn it on.

Cheerio LOVES to ride....BUT he has to sit by Ron when the pickup isn't moving. He knows the rule when the pickup moves...............

Pivot Supervisor - Cheerio Stock :)

When we FINALLY got back home, we decided to go for a much appreciated Golf Cart ride. Kind of rare these days. With the extreme heat we had been having even the evenings weren't suited for a Golf Cart ride, so we enjoy grabbing the cart and heading out. We surveyed the progress on our New Retaining wall construction and I think both of us where shocked at the water level. The Drought of 2012 has taken it's toll on our water level but has also provided an opportunity to make shoreline improvements................these are the photos I took to show the extreme drop in the water and the progress of our retaining wall.

The wide strip of sand that you see is usually under water.......

This is the area where the retaining wall is going. Typically the water line is way over the blue and white pipes you see and ONLY the top of the rock was is showing.

At one point several years ago the water was OVER this retaining wall when it was flooding. You can see the 'Normal" water line.

This is my Flood stage guide. When it was flooding several years ago I judge the rise and fall of the flood water by the white bouy on the dock. It has been level with the top of the corner of this dock.

This is our boat dock. Notice our boat. It is usually Almost level with this dock......it is UNDER it! I have NO idea how in the heck we are going to get this thing out!!!!

Showing where the water level typically is.......and Cheerio's tail end :)

Another shot of the dock and our boat.

More showing the drastic drop in the water and that Thunderhead in the background. It brought rain to some folks just not us. :(

Our poor boat is dry docked :)

Where the new retaining wall will be....again water is usually just below the green grass areas.....

Showing more of the water that is left in our channel....which isn't much :(

The brink of hell.....

I am fairly certain that Nebraska has fallen to the brink of hell. I don't EVER remember being this hot. With Air Temperatures in the 100's and crazy hot heat indexs life has been a little frustrating. Add in the fact that we have had zero rain since the first of June, it has been a day by day challenge to keep cool and hydrated. Even Cheerio hates this weather. He went outside in his tinkle area, did his business and immediately came in and did this.............
IT is so hot out!!!!! AND it's Monday!

Big Red Fever?

Or a Nebraska shirt fetish? One way or another that is a TON of shirts I have. I have a Nebraska shirt for any type of weather.

Ron left today on a Three day business trip to Atlanta. So in an attempt to avoid the heat outside at any cost, to curtail my extreme bordem, and fill my "no NASCAR Sunday" blues, I decided to sort out my clothes closet. I decided to split my Nebraska shirts in half, half home, half cabin....HOLY CRAP that was NOT a problem at all.....I could have packed a whole other suitcase with them.

My endless collection of every type of Nebraska shirt ever produced....OK it's not THAT bad :)
Did I mention it was hot at H*** today as well.......as well as almost every day in July? I had my AC turned to 68 and here was the temperature in my house. I was sweating! That's how hot it was outside. I  swear that my roof was so hot my AC couldn't keep up.

and here you have it! The temperature gauge does not lie. UGGHHH. Is it October yet?

Cuddle bug

I just love it when I know that Cheerio is all snuggly and comfortable......I took this picture of him nestled in the pillows on our chair. He was totally happy........

The great appliance debate

These babies were delivered to our new house today. I decided to switch from Front Loaders (which are selling with our house) back to top loaders. I felt that the top loading model had more capacity than the front loading model I previously owned. I felt that the new front loading models were just TOO big and took up half my laundry area. When the delivery guy brought the set he informed me that the New Front loaders have MUCH more capacity then the top loaders. Well, I am not one to argue with someone whose been in the business for so long BUT all I know is.........I could sit in the washer........

So far I am very happy with my purchase. But then again I have only washed two loads.

Old signs

Just for your information.......buy the Big Bugles Bag on the right. Why you ask? Because the Bugle Bag on the right has the Current Car and Driver Jeff Burton on the bag. The bags on the left have Former Car, driver and Number Clint Bowyer who I personally know for a fact does NOT drive the 33 car............but rather is the capable pilot of the #15 Five Hour Energy car for Michael Waltrip Racing. Makes you wonder how many of those Clint Bags are sitting in a warehouse somewhere........

Being a NASCAR fan = Valuable information while purchasing groceries...who knew!

Days alone......

I was soooooo upset that I spent ANOTHER day alone while Ron was working on our pivot....Until I found this, which I thought was an "ad" turned out to be the nicest little saying. I left this sit on my desk because I was so darn mad that Ron was showing me another ad or story about the farm program........

Here it is:

You are the Cheese to my Macaroni. You are the Horizon to my Sky. You are the Bacon to my Eggs. You are the laces to my sneakers. You are the Jelly to my Peanut Butter. You are the smile to my Face. You are the Gravy to my Mashed Potatoes. You are the Bubbles to my Bath. You are the Milk to my Cookie. You are the Ink to my pen. You are the Ketchup to my French Fries. You are the Water to my Ocean. You are the Icing on my Cup cake........

I so wish I would have read this earlier. I was so distracted by thinking it was another "ad" or story about something that didn't float my boat I missed this sweet little gesture by Ron......

I am sooooooo sorry....next time I promise to read what you put in front of me no matter what it is.......
