Day 2 - on the Vegas Adventure

After we slept off a night of wings :) and a day of hard driving....We Left Silverthorne Colorado, where we actually shopped and partied at on previous ski trips to head for Mesquite, Nevada. That was our goal. Make it to Mesquite. The farthest West I have ever driven in a vehicle was Steamboat Springs Colorado on a Ski trip (where my unnamed friends stole my car in the middle of the night to go Clubbing) :) SO I never imagined the scenery. Every mile changed. When I didn't want to look I just pullled out my I-pad or phone to Text or check my email. That worked like a charm...........this is some of the scenery while leaving near Vail.

Ron and I needed a serious breather in Grand Junction Colorado. What a BEAUTIFUL place. We really treated ourselves at ate at Wendy's :) OMG we are such adventurers. We put ALOT of gas in here thanks to our friend Joel Langan who kept reminding us that there was NOTHING after Green River for 107 miles. OMG he was right because I have NEVER seen such beautiful scenery in my life. It was worth every mile. We stopped at a Rest Stop out of Green River. It was a breathtaking view and we had the pleasure of chatting with a sweet lady and her two little dogs. The little dogs were adorable but made me miss our Cheerio boy.........here is where we stopped!

We loaded back up in the pickup and I sure wish I knew what happened to the other four pictures I took. BUT we were West bound and down.

OH the view in Utah. I had never driven through Utah but it was just amazing! There was every kind of landscape imaginable. After curves, and hills, and more curves and hills. We finally got to the I-70 and I-15 Junction which meant we were headed south to Vegas.

The whole trip we kept in contact with our Friend Joel. We finally met up for supper in Mesquite, Nevada at the Eureka Hotel. We all had a great supper at the Buffet and Ron and I walked back to our hotel across the street and got to wave goodbye to our friend Joel.......

Ron, Kristin & Joel.
After saying our goodbyes to our friend Joel. Ron and I found out that the hotel/Casino had a bowling alley! NOW that is a first. Neither one of us are that into Gambling, so we did something we love.....we went bowling! I held my own. I so could have beat Ron in the first frame if it wouldn't have been for my sweating palms :)

Ron and Kristin Bowling.....THAT"S it! NO more Camera phones..........

Day 1 - Vegas Adventure

It was time to leave home sweet home and head West for the start of our Vegas Adventure. I had a hard time leaving because of one little brown thing:

The sweetest little dog in the world. Our Cheerio boy. WE LOVE YOU! As much as I love a Vacation I will be counting the days till I am home snuggling with my little dog!

AND as my luck ALWAYS has it...........it always snows when I have to travel or be gone and it did it to me again. The first snow at Wagners Lake.

MAN did we put some miles on. Stopping at McDonalds in Ogallala Nebraska for some food. Then we headed west and never stopped till we hit Silverthorne, Colorado for the night. Slept good, but ready for our Marathon road trip tomorrow.....

Duck buddies

These are our new friends...the Wagner Lake Ducks......they love to come up in our yard and eat these little red berries that fall off a tree in our yard. Whatever they don't eat on the ground the four Squirrels were taking care of in the tree. I think they are so cute. They aren't a bit afraid of us, only Cheerio. He makes sure to run them off every chance he gets. Those must be tasty little berries because they are up here all the time. Yesterday I actually shook the branches of the tree to get the berries to fall. I was mad at the greedy squirrels who are hoarding the berries and won't stay off my roof :)
Berry Breakfast.

Berry Fight in the back :)

Family Picnic at the Stocks.

Get annoyed with the lady and her Camera :)

Hanging in there....

......and that's what Clint Bowyer is exactly doing in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

After Today's race in Texas I am one spent Clint fan. I can't take all this excitement. Him being Third in points in just amazing to me considering this is his first year with Michael Waltrip Racing. Who would have imagined that we would be at the end of the Chase sitting in a position to win a Championship. Just being in contention is a fantastic feet in itself.

As a Clint Bowyer fan, some NASCAR fans look down their noses upon me because I chose a different route when picking my favorite driver. I didn't pick someone just because of their names, sponsor or car make. I picked Clint because he reminded me of those local dirt drivers that I watched on  endless race nights at local dirt tracks here in good ole Nebraska. Not to mention, he's from Kansas. A state that has been good to us. I always said that If I didn't live in Nebraska it would be Kansas :)

So after today's race, it is going to be an uphill challenge for our Wheelman but I wouldn't trade him for any other driver. It's amazing the relationships I have built with people who have something so simply in common with me......their Favorite Driver is Clint Bowyer.

So for those who love to tease and criticize me about being a Bowyer fan......I am having one hell of a smile on my face, just like Clint!

GO CLINT!!!!!

I love

Getting letters in the mail.

It doesn't happen too often so when it does I enjoy it! Today I was helping Ron take down the tent that we didn't use for our party last weekend (which is a long story) :) and I stopped by the Mailbox to find this letter from My Niece Jessica.

Early in the fall I arranged to get a Projector shipped to Jessica in American Samoa. She is there teaching through the World Teach program and wanted some help getting a Projector for her classroom.

This little letter motivated me to finish taking down the tent with Ron :) I laid it on my counter and I awaited the letter. I opened it to find a wonderful little Thank you from my sweet Jessica in addition to a little not signed by her students thanking me for sending the projector. It totally made my whole day. I love reading the little message from the kids.

I think it is fantastic that Jessica is teaching her student to Thank people. People can really learn by example and she's a fine one. I miss her very much and can't wait to see her come summer when she comes home! Clap clap! But here is the envelope. I have pictures of the Thank you and the thank yous from her class but for some reason they won't show up in my I Photos....hopefully I can find them and post them later!

I love you Jessica and am so very proud of you!!!!!!!!  xoxoxo

Dreams....

I am so sick and tired of these weird dreams I have been having. I could NOT sleep tonight. Ron is gone and for some reason my mind was whirling. These crazy dreams have had me tossing and turning for weeks. I am starting to think I should to talk to my Dr. and see if maybe my Blood Pressure pills could be causing these strange dreams. You name it, I've dreamt it :)

But there is one person in this house who is sleeping just fine! It's probably the fact he got his haircut today but Cheerio is wiped! Wish I could sleep like this:

I am soooooo sleepy.....

That lamp is way too bright, think I'll move my leg up over my eyes.

I am sound asleep and snoring :)
